Job Description

DZone, Inc. is seeking a part time writer / editor to develop and produce Java related content for our popular online Java community, Javalobby. This is an excellent opportunity to earn extra income while working from home with flexible hours. Responsibilities include monitoring RSS feeds and other news services for the latest Java news, posting news daily on our Javalobby Web site, writing occasional columns in our weekly newsletter, establishing contact and relationships with guest authors, seeking and securing reprint permission for existing articles that are interesting and relevant to our community, helping to moderate our forums, and conducting interviews with key individuals in various parts of the Java technology space.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to work as a team player on a growing and diverse editorial staff.
  • Must have experience and a strong interest in Java and software development.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a strong command of the English language, although U.S. residency is not necessarily required.
  • Must be a leader, who is passionate about development and Java and who enjoys being among the World’s best informed people in the Java space, as well as being a leader in a very popular online Java community.
  • Must be flexible—able to produce consistent high quality content on a daily basis, even during relatively low periods of Java news activity, as well as be able to work in a very fast paced environment during high levels of activity, and when there is breaking news.
  • Previous writing / blogging experience is preferred, but not required.
